Peer Review Process

Al-Miftah: Jurnal Sosial dan Dakwah applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of published manuscripts. In this process, the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Each manuscript is reviewed by independent reviewers who have expertise relevant to the topic of the submitted article.

 

The peer review process consists of the following stages:

 

1. Initial Manuscript Screening

 

All submitted manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team to evaluate their compliance with the journal's focus and scope, writing guidelines, originality, and basic academic requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected without further review.

 

2. Reviewer Assignment

 

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their academic background, research experience, and expertise related to the manuscript topic.

 

3. Double-Blind Review

 

The journal applies a double-blind review system, meaning that:

 

Reviewers do not know the identity of the authors.

Authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.

 

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on several criteria, including:

 

Relevance to the journal's focus and scope;

Originality and contribution to knowledge development;

Theoretical foundation and literature review;

Research methodology;

Data analysis and interpretation;

Quality of discussion and conclusions;

Academic writing quality and references.

4. Review Decision

 

Based on reviewers' recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

 

Accept Submission – The manuscript is accepted without major revisions.

Revisions Required – The manuscript requires minor revisions before publication.

Resubmit for Review – The manuscript requires substantial revisions and will be reviewed again.

Decline Submission – The manuscript is rejected due to insufficient quality, unsuitable scope, or major academic issues.

5. Revision Process

 

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers' comments and submit the revised version within the specified period. The revised manuscript may be evaluated again by reviewers or editors to ensure that all recommendations have been properly addressed.

 

6. Final Decision and Publication

 

The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers' evaluations and editorial considerations. Accepted manuscripts will proceed to the editing, proofreading, layout, and publication stages.

 

Review Duration

 

The review process generally takes approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the complexity of the manuscript.

 

Reviewer Ethics

 

Reviewers are expected to:

 

Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts;

Provide objective and constructive evaluations;

Avoid conflicts of interest;

Evaluate manuscripts based on academic quality and scientific contribution.
