Interdependensi Fungsi Masjid dalam Mewujudkan Keberlanjutan Organisasi; Studi Kasus Masjid Agung Asy-Syuhada' Pamekasan

Purpose - This study aims to analyze the implementation of mosque functions and identify patterns of interdependence in the management of Masjid Agung Asy-Syuhada’ Pamekasan.
Method - This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews with seven informants, including mosque administrators and active congregants, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, employing open, axial, and selective coding. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source and method triangulation, member checking, and an audit trail.
Results - The findings reveal that worship and educational functions are the most developed and institutionalized aspects of the mosque, while da'wah and social functions are implemented at a moderate level. In contrast, community empowerment remains the weakest function due to challenges related to program sustainability, human resource capacity, and institutional support. The study further demonstrates that mosque functions operate within an interdependent system. A strong worship function contributes to greater congregational trust, which in turn enhances participation in zakat, infaq, and sadaqah activities and supports educational and da'wah programs, creating a virtuous cycle. Conversely, the weak implementation of community empowerment creates a vicious cycle, leading social programs to focus more on aid distribution than on socioeconomic transformation.
Originality - This study contributes to the mosque management literature by introducing an interdependence perspective that emphasizes the relationships among mosque functions as key determinants of organizational effectiveness and sustainability. In practice, strengthening synergy among mosque functions, particularly through sustainable community empowerment initiatives, is essential to enhancing the mosque’s role as a center for community development.
