Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Fath al-Qarīb book in shaping students’ understanding and practice of fiqh al-‘ibādah at Pondok Pesantren Tanwirul Islam. The research is motivated by the importance of integrating theoretical understanding of Islamic jurisprudence with practical religious observance among students in pesantren education. Although Fath al-Qarīb serves as a primary reference in learning worship jurisprudence, several students were still found to experience weaknesses in the practical application of worship, particularly in performing the pillars of prayer correctly. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that students’ understanding of Fath al-Qarīb is developed through three learning stages, namely the Nubdah class, practical class, and takhassus class. The learning process emphasizes four dimensions of understanding: memorization, comprehension, application, and evaluation. Furthermore, the implementation of students’ understanding is reflected in three educational domains: affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. The study demonstrates that the learning of Fath al-Qarīb not only strengthens students’ theoretical mastery of worship jurisprudence but also contributes significantly to the formation of disciplined religious practice and the internalization of Islamic values in everyday life.
