Publication Ethics

EDUTHINK: Jurnal Pemikiran Pendidikan Islam is a peer-reviewed academic journal that aims to become a leading platform for scholarly communication and an authoritative source of knowledge in the field of Islamic education. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, and case studies focusing on Islamic education and related fields, including Islamic educational thought, policies, curriculum, management, innovation, pesantren education, and other relevant areas.

All submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published in any language and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities and standards of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

1. Reporting Standards

Authors are responsible for presenting an accurate description of their original research and providing an objective discussion of its significance. Research results must be reported honestly without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation of data. Manuscripts should include sufficient details, methodological explanations, and references to enable other researchers to understand and reproduce the study. Any form of fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate reporting is considered unethical behavior and is unacceptable. Authors must ensure that manuscripts comply with the journal’s submission guidelines.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts represent entirely original work. Manuscripts should not be submitted simultaneously to multiple journals. All relevant previous studies, including the authors’ own previous publications and works by other researchers, must be properly acknowledged and cited. Direct quotations from other publications must be clearly identified using quotation marks and accompanied by appropriate references.

EDUTHINK: Jurnal Pemikiran Pendidikan Islam applies plagiarism screening using appropriate plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts containing plagiarism or significant similarity without proper citation will be rejected.

3. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Authors are also expected not to publish articles presenting substantially similar research findings in different journals. Publishing the same research in multiple journals without proper justification constitutes unethical publishing behavior. If multiple publications originate from a single research project, this relationship must be transparently disclosed and the primary publication must be properly referenced.

4. Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources of data, ideas, concepts, and publications that have contributed to their research. All influential works must be cited appropriately to recognize the contributions of other researchers.

5. Authorship of the Manuscript

Authorship should accurately reflect the contributions of individuals involved in the research and manuscript preparation. Authors should be limited to those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript.

Individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors, while those providing minor or technical assistance may be acknowledged separately. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could potentially influence the research findings or interpretation of the manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research must also be clearly stated.

7. Errors in Published Articles

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published manuscripts, they must immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

1. Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the quality, originality, significance, and relevance of manuscripts. Decisions must be guided by the journal’s policies and applicable ethical and legal standards, including issues related to plagiarism, copyright, and academic integrity.

Editors may consult reviewers or members of the editorial board when making publication decisions. Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of all published content.

2. Manuscript Review Process

Editors must ensure that every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation regarding originality, relevance, and compliance with journal standards. Editors are responsible for organizing a fair and objective peer-review process by selecting reviewers with appropriate expertise and avoiding reviewers with conflicts of interest.

3. Fairness and Editorial Independence

Editors must ensure that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly based solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics of the authors.

Editors must uphold editorial independence, transparency, and integrity throughout the publication process.

4. Confidentiality

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information regarding manuscripts to anyone other than authorized reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.

Editors must also ensure that ethical requirements related to research involving human participants, including informed consent and confidentiality of research data, are properly addressed.

5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without written permission from the authors. Editors should not handle manuscripts in which they have personal, professional, financial, or academic conflicts of interest.

Editors must ensure that all publication decisions remain objective, transparent, and independent.
