Focus and Scope

Asasi: Journal of Islamic Family Law focuses on the study and development of Islamic Family Law from classical, contemporary, and comparative perspectives. The journal aims to provide a platform for scholarly engagement with issues surrounding the legal, social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of family life in Muslim societies.

The journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and critical reviews that address both theoretical and applied aspects of Islamic Family Law in various legal, cultural, and institutional contexts.

  • Marriage, divorce, and reconciliation in Islamic law

  • Child custody, guardianship (hadhanah and wilayah), and child protection

  • Inheritance and wealth distribution in Islamic jurisprudence

  • Customary law (ʿurf) and its interaction with Islamic legal norms

  • Early marriage, domestic violence, and legal safeguards in Islamic law
